Everybody wants to be a cowboy

Ok, so I'm not a cowboy. I wore a tie for 40 years as a marketing guy in the newspaper and cable TV world. But after 35 years of living in Colorado, I'm at home on the range. Took my first photography class at Michigan State University in 1971. Received a loaner Nikon F from the photo department of the Battle Creek Enquirer and News in 1974 where I started my marketing career. I have been shooting Nikon ever since. Over the last 45 years or so I've been lucky enough to have traveled to all 50 states and around 20 international countries with camera in hand.

Best Bear Adventure- Katmai National Park Alaska

Oh what a week! Flew out of Homer, Alaska on K-Bay Air,

joined by fellow photographer David Recht, www.davidrecht.net I don't think we imagined a day that would give us such opportunities. The salmon were running in the Douglas River and the brown bears were giving us a show running up and down catching lunch.  We were about 50 feet from the bears kneeling in 4 inches of mud having the time of our lives. Just Amazing!

I have been through Soldotna on the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula many times on trips to photograph bears and when you ask about Eagles everyone says come back in the winter. So off we went on February 6th 2020 looking for the northern lights and the majestic Bald Eagle. In Colorado I have driven for miles and then hiked a few more to see a few bald eagles. But to drive up to where 700-800 or more are, was just unbelievable and unforgettable. Image: Soldotna 2020

Make Everyday An Adventure

Growing up in Potterville, Michigan a little farm town near the Michigan auto production plants I never imagined traveling internationally and photographing  some of the greatest places in the world.  It's proof of what a little luck and planning can bring to your life. Driving Aimlessly is a photographer's creed.

From the washboard gravel roads of Wyoming to the pot hole free roads of Sweden you must love driving as much as you love finding a great image to shoot. Image: Swedish country scene, rape seed in full bloom with country house, 2015
